I believe Memphis is capable of more.

JA’MAREZ BENSON
Candidate for Memphis City Council
Ja’Marez Benson is a young Memphis leader, community advocate, and recent high school graduate committed to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future for Memphis.
At just 19 years old, Benson is stepping forward with a clear belief: the next generation should not wait for change—they should help lead it.
Growing up in Memphis has given Benson a firsthand perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing young people, working families, and neighborhoods across the city. His experiences have strengthened his passion for education, youth empowerment, economic opportunity, public safety, neighborhood investment, and government accountability.
Benson believes Memphis has everything it needs to succeed: talented people, world-renowned culture, hardworking communities, and an incredible history. What Memphis needs now is bold leadership willing to think beyond the ordinary and prepare the city for its next chapter.
His platform focuses on expanding opportunities for young people, supporting entrepreneurship and local businesses, improving quality of life in Memphis neighborhoods, encouraging homeownership and generational wealth, strengthening public safety, and making sure residents have a meaningful voice in City Hall.
Benson understands that leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about listening, learning, showing up, and doing the work.
